Today I take a page from the notebook of Pierre de Fermat, the French mathematician who tantalized generations of subsequent number-crunchers with a margin note saying he had a marvelous proof to thorny problem but didn’t have time to jot it down. Similarly, I have a theory that the problem with mass media is that media workers are, by and large, neurotic and unhappy. I haven’t time today to prove it out though I hope to aim some words at this tomorrow. Meanwhile, feel free to offer your own proof or refutation in a comment.
