Reuters CEO blogs from Sun Valley

A link via Paid Content led to the blog of Tom Glocer who was an M&A lawyer with a prestigious New York law firm before joining Reuters. His two comments from the exclusive media retreat (that I blogged about recently in the second bit of this posting) say nothing of interest.

But I scanned Glocer’s blog to see what else he is sharing and saw this post on The Value of News. He leads with the importance of financial news and ends with various homilies about other news types including “fluff and gossip about celebrities” the popularity of which he ascribes to “how secure and comfortable life is in many developed nations.”

I also noted an optimistic posting about Brazil which Glocer said he has been visiting “for over 40 years.”

It’s a careful CEO blog but it’s still good to read what a high-ranking newsie writes.
